Sliding or hinged?
Sliding shutters save space in smaller bedrooms because they need no room to swing open. Hinged shutters cost less and let you see the whole wardrobe at once, which many people prefer.
Glass or mirror shutters can make a small room feel larger, while plain laminate shutters are the easiest to keep clean.
Planning the inside first
We start with what you own, not with a standard layout. How many long garments, how many sarees, how many shoes and how much bedding decide the mix of hanging space, shelves and drawers. A typical family wardrobe in Hyderabad needs:
- Long hanging space for sarees on hangers, kurtas and dresses.
- Short double hanging for shirts and trousers.
- Shallow pull-outs for folded silk sarees.
- A locker drawer for jewellery and important papers.
- Lofts for suitcases, quilts and festival decorations.
Keeping fungus and moisture out
Hyderabad's monsoon brings humidity, and a wardrobe on a damp wall can develop fungus within a season. We check the wall for damp before building, use moisture-resistant boards on the back panel, and leave a small gap for air between the wardrobe and the wall.
Walk-in wardrobes
If you have a dressing area or a spare corner next to the master bedroom, a walk-in wardrobe keeps everything visible at once. Open shelves, glass-fronted sections, a central bench and good lighting turn it into the calmest part of the morning. We often design these as part of 3BHK and villa interiors.
Shutter finishes and how they age
- Laminate: tough, affordable and easy to wipe, the most practical choice for families with children.
- Acrylic: a glossy, mirror-like finish that looks premium but shows fingerprints.
- Lacquered glass: elegant and easy to clean, best for master bedrooms.
- PU paint: a seamless, smooth finish in any colour, at a higher price.
- Veneer: real wood, warm and natural, needing a little more care.
We bring samples to your home so you can see how each finish looks in your own bedroom light.
Saree wardrobe design
Silk and Kanjeevaram sarees need to be stored flat, away from light and moisture, and easy to see without pulling out the whole pile. A saree wardrobe has shallow pull-out trays, each holding a few sarees, a separate hanging section for sarees on hangers, a drawer for blouses and fall pieces, and a closed section for wedding sarees and heirlooms.
We line the inside with moisture-resistant boards and add small vents, so silks stay fresh through the monsoon.
Wardrobe with dressing table
In smaller bedrooms, combining the wardrobe and dressing table saves a whole wall. A mirror shutter, a fold-down or built-in dresser top with drawers for cosmetics and jewellery, and a soft light above make a full dressing area in the space of one wardrobe door.
