Gypsum board is quick to install, gives clean lines and is the most common choice for homes today. POP allows curved and detailed designs but takes longer and needs skilled hands. PVC panels resist water, which suits balconies and service areas.

Many Hyderabad flats have a ceiling height of around 10 feet. A full drop ceiling can make such rooms feel low, so we often use a peripheral ceiling around the edges, which hides the lights and wiring while keeping the centre high.

Kitchens need moisture-resistant boards and an easy-to-clean finish, as oil and steam settle on the ceiling. In bathrooms, PVC or moisture-resistant gypsum with removable panels gives access to plumbing above. On balconies, PVC panels handle rain splashes and keep their colour in the sun.
In every wet area, we leave access panels so that if a pipe above needs repair, the whole ceiling does not have to be broken.
For living rooms, a peripheral cove ceiling with downlights is the most popular design, with a raised centre over the seating or dining area in larger halls. For bedrooms, a simple cove above the bed with warm lights creates a calm mood without making the room feel low. Wooden strips or a small floating panel above the headboard add a touch of warmth.
