Living at home during renovation
Most families cannot move out for the duration, so we plan the work room by room. One bedroom stays usable, dust is contained with sheets and the noisiest work is done in agreed time slots.
Before we begin, we agree a written schedule so you know which room is out of use and for how long.
Common surprises in older buildings
Damp walls, old wiring, uneven floors and weak plumbing are common in buildings of that age. We inspect for these first, because covering them with new interiors only hides the problem. Finding them early also means they are in the quote, not an unpleasant extra halfway through.
What a typical renovation covers
- Vitrified tiles over old mosaic, or wooden flooring in bedrooms.
- A modular kitchen in place of the old platform and open shelves; see kitchen renovation.
- Built-in wardrobes in place of steel almirahs.
- A gypsum false ceiling with cove lights; see flooring and ceiling renovation.
- New switches, more sockets and safer wiring.
- Fresh paint, polished doors and new hardware.
Renovating a home you are about to sell or rent
If you plan to sell or let out an older flat, a focused renovation of the kitchen, flooring and paint can make it far easier to find a buyer or tenant. We help you spend where it shows, without over-investing.
Where to start if the budget is limited
Start with what affects daily life and is hard to change later: damp and wiring, then the kitchen, then wardrobes. Flooring and ceilings come next, and paint, lights and decor last.
Doing it in this order means nothing new gets damaged by later work, and each phase gives you a room that is fully finished rather than a whole house that is half done.
Renovating your parents' home
Many of our renovation clients are sons and daughters renovating the home they grew up in, so their parents can live more comfortably. That means brighter lighting, non-slip floors, easier kitchen storage at waist height, higher beds and grab-friendly handles, while keeping the furniture and memories that matter to them.
We work around their routine, keep one room fully usable at all times, and explain every step to them, not just to the children paying for it.
Renovating an old flat for resale or rent
A tired 20-year-old flat can sit on the market for months. A focused renovation of the kitchen, flooring, lighting and paint can make it far more attractive to buyers and tenants. We help you spend where it shows and avoid over-investing in a home you plan to sell.
